The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the World’s Premier Conference on Cities. It is a non-legislative technical forum convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) since 2002. The Forum is hosted in a different city every two years, to examine the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on cities, communities, economies, climate change and policies. A unique feature of the World Urban Forum is that, it is one of the most open gatherings on the international stage. It brings together government leaders, community organizations and individuals to open dialogues and discussions on the fundamental need to rethink on the type of city we all want to live in this home planet – a city that is good, people centered and capable to manage the shared resources we have globally. The forum is an avenue to share and explore new solutions to the numerous challenges that confront today’s cities and a platform for cities to renew their pledges and conviction to take measures in making differences to the lives of the billions of people in today’s world cities and for our future generations.
