PHNOM PENH, 2 Dec : The mayors of capital cities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gathered here on Friday to discuss ways to promote comprehensive cooperation for building smart, resilient, and sustainable cities in the region.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Mayors Forum and the Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals 2022, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said cities are the hearts of countries and regions, and they are places for all kinds of activities, particularly in the socio-economic, cultural and political fields.
The ASEAN Mayors Forum has been advocating for local government’s indispensable roles and contributions to the ASEAN and global development. Local government is the key factor to achieve a successful development in the ASEAN Community and can help ASEAN realise its goal in building an inclusive and forward-looking community that leaves no one behind.
URBANICE Malaysia was at the Forum and presented by our CEO, TPr Ts.Norliza Hashim. Norliza shared her perspective and discuss on the best practices to identify feasible recommendations for economic recovery in cities.
The AMF promotes cooperation between local governments within and the wider ASEAN region, through advocacy, capacity building and training, research, knowledge management, project development and management.
