MyReaders LitHubX PPR Taman Beringin

Komuniti Hab Taman Beringin, Kepong

Overview

LitHubX is a community-based programme that does intervention for English literacy among identified B40 children who are behind in their reading skills.

Description

Due to the learning disruption caused by Covid-19, many children from low-income families have lost critical years of learning. In July 2021, MyReaders launched the LitHubx Program which is a fully-funded literacy model designed to help children of B40 communities gain literacy. The current program provides one-to-one remediation to children via Whatsapp with the involvement of volunteer teachers.

URBANICE Malaysia joined the LitHubX partnership in October 2021. Currently, 13 selected students from PPR Taman Beringin are enrolled in the seven-months program. The students are expected to graduate from the program in May 2022.

Komuniti Hab Taman Dagang, Ampang Jaya

Overview

The Fun(d) For Life Camp is a two-week financial literacy program for children.

Description

In partnership with Arus Academy and the support of FWD Takaful, we introduced a short-term financial literacy program to 16 children aged eight to 12 at Komuniti Hab Taman Dagang. The program is designed to empower the next generation to achieve their dreams through financial awareness and independence. The program model consists of interactive activities that simultaneously builds on the children’s digital skills on top of financial skills. The program was pivoted online due to the MCO and each child was provided a loaned tablet and mobile data to participate.
